Wise Words With Maggie 5: the on/off button

💡Wisdom no. 5: One of the highly appreciated things about the Cocker Spaniel is its ability to be calm while at home relaxing and to be energetic when out doing activities. A so called on/off button 🔋🪫

Due to their nature as a hunting dog, they have enough stamina to be working in the field all day long – this is what they are born to do, and they will basically work tirelessly until they fall dead 🦌. In an everyday life, you will most likely see this, when your Cocker Spaniel is ready to go for another walk, even though you just came home from a long and active walk.

But their ability to adapt into the environment they are In, is one of the thing that makes them suitable for a family dog as well as a hunting dog. As written earlier, they like to be with their pack and also often will follow the “mood” in the pack, so if decide to take a Sunday on the couch, your Cocker Spaniel will probably be all right with a minimum of activities that day and just relax 💤. All right, that’s maybe put quite simple, and you probably will not recognize this, if you have a Cocker puppy at home 😅. BUT compared to other breeds this is definitely one of the great perks of (adult) Cocker Spaniels.

Questions arising after this could be: so my Cocker Spaniel does not need exercise or mental activities every day – they will just adapt? (No) or are there any differences between the standard Cocker and the Field trail Cocker when it comes to level of energy? (Yes) …. ⁉️More about that on another Wednesday

*according to Maggie (9 year old Cocker Spaniel) and human (3rd generation Cocker Spaniel breeder).
