so you want a guard dog to keep you safe? 🛑 Then you shouldn’t pick a Cocker spaniel.

As written last Wednesday, the merry cocker is waaaaay too happy to see most people, so they will probably greet all guest in your house with a wagging tail. At least if they bring a snack 🥨

Naturally not all Cocker Spaniels are the same. Some will be happy to meet every single stranger, some are more suspicious at first and in some cases you have Cockers who only like their own people. Like humans they all have different personalities.

But in general, Cocker Spaniels are terrible guard dogs and if this is the purpose for you to get a dog, we suggest to look for another breed.

Myself.. I can be suspicious to strangers if my humans are not around or if they walk or talk in a certain way. But basically my defense is a small barking session and then I’m done with it and ready for another nap.

Audrey & Malou here doesn’t look like the best guard dogs either, do you think? 😂
